NOTE FROM THE REGIONAL DIRECTOR The year 2020 has had an unprecedented combination of challenges that have posed real threats to everything from human survival to collapsing economies. More than ever, it is clear that things are not and probably will never be the same again. For organizations, businesses and entities this will be a unique chance for those who rise to the occasion to redefine their work, their networks and their identity. Despite the massive challenges and constraints, we end the year with some great work done! Congratulations to all the Members, Commissions and Secretariat staff of ESARO. Some innovative ideas have built up momentum particularly in the area of conversation finance, rethinking and positioning protected and conserved areas, collaborations and engagement of the private sector among others. As we end the year, we look forward to the next World Conservation Congress set for 3rd to 11th 2021 in Marseille, France. This is to wish you all a prosperous 2021 Regards, Luther Bois Anukur Regional Director IUCN, Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office
