Report: The Mekong's forgotten fishes

The flagship report details the dazzling diversity of Mekong's Forgotten Fishes highlighting how critical they are to communities, economies and ecosystems. And how quickly they are disappearing.

Produced by 26 local and international organizations, including IUCN SSC Freshwater Fish Specialist Group and Asian Species Action Partnership, the first-of-its-kind report celebrates the at least 1,148 fish species in the Mekong - making it the 3rd most biodiverse river on Earth.

New IUCN Publication
Gender equality for greener and bluer future – this publication gathers data on why women’s leadership matters for realising environmental goals. It releases new IUCN research comparing our data sets from 2015, 2020 and 2024 – which shows only marginal improvement on the participation of women in environmental decision-making over the last decade. If this slow trend persists, it could take up to 162 years to reach parity in the leadership of environment-related ministries.
