Welcome to PANORAMA Buzz, your monthly digest from the PANORAMA initiative! As winter approaches, we are happy to announce the launch of our newest Community: PANORAMA Mitigation! We are also ramping up our preparations for the 15th UN Biodiversity Conference (CBD COP15), where we will position PANORAMA as an initiative that will support implementation of the new biodiversity framework. Stay tuned for more information!

PANORAMA is expanding: Join the launch of PANORAMA Mitigation on November 12th!

PANORAMA Mitigation promotes solutions and lessons learned that help mitigate climate change, spanning a broad range of topics, sectors and actors. Solutions provided contribute to reducing, capturing, storing, or removing greenhouse gases that lead to global warming and climate change.

We are proud to launch the newest community at GLF Climate on Saturday, November 12th at 15:30 UTC+2 in a vibrant, engaging online event.

PANORAMA'S COMMUNITIES
PANORAMA documents and promotes solutions across our 10 Communities. In each PANORAMA Buzz, we introduce some of them.

PANORAMA Cities

PANORAMA Cities is jointly coordinated by the World Bank and IUCN. It represents an increasingly important theme within the field of development. The Community gathers and shares inspiring case studies, lessons learnt and best practices, drawing on research and project experience in sustainable urban development and disaster risk management from across the world and showcasing pragmatic solutions to a multitude of pressing urban challenges. Currently, the Community features 219 solutions.

Stormwater Harvesting and Trades in a Sponge City, China

Changsha High-tech Zone Municipal Garden Sanitation Co., Ltd. and Hunan Yuchuang Environmental Protection Engineering Co., Ltd.(Yuchuang) signed a strategic agreement to buy and sell harvested stormwater resources in some Sponge City communities, creating a new model of the utilization of stormwater and supporting the sustainability of Sponge City implementation.

Meet inspiring PANORAMA Solution Providers: David Parreño, Blue Ventures, Madagascar

David Parreño Duque is Field Programmes Support Manager for Blue Ventures, and a former site leader for Andavadoaka (south-western Madagascar), in charge of the area of the Velondriake Locally-Managed Marine Area. Velondriake is home to the Tahiry Honko mangrove restoration project, winners of the Pathfinder Award 2021, for the Climate Change category. Blue Ventures has been involved in the Velondriake initiative since the start, providing technical, financial and logistic help to the local community.

PANORAMA Ambassadors - to help represent PANORAMA and directly connect with communities implementing the solutions, we work with volunteer Ambassadors. In each Buzz, we introduce members of the 2022 Ambassadors cohort. Learn more
