The undeniable connection between nature, human health, and economic well-being has become more evident than ever during this time of crisis. Resilience is in our nature: IUCN and its Members are working to ensure a nature-based recovery that can deliver sustainable solutions, providing a foundation for a healthier relationship between humanity and the planet.

The IUCN Congress will play an important role in these efforts, offering a platform for civil society, indigenous peoples’ organisations, and governments to join forces for nature-based recovery.

Decisions on 109 Congress motions available

IUCN Members recently took part in an electronic vote on 109 motions, bringing into force new resolutions that have gone into effect immediately.

Members endorsed the IUCN Global Standard for Nature-based Solutions (073), addressed organised crime’s impact on the environment (047), rewilding (100), and eliminating plastic pollution (022 & 083). Members also passed motions addressing the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework in advance of the CBD COP 15. Voting results and the full list of motions is available here.
Nature 2030 provides a vision for the next decade of the IUCN Programme

IUCN Members approved the IUCN Programme (2021-2024), a first-time decadal vision for the Union called Nature 2030. This long-term plan aligns IUCN’s goals with the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework. The Nature 2030 Programme is available here.
