Implementing conservation programs is usually a matter of integrating a wide range of variables, broadly grouped into economic, social (including cultural, traditional, political) and biological. Biological variables often prove to be the least important, relative to the social and economic ones.

En Afrique, l’IPACC (Comité de Coordination des Peuples Autochtones d’Afrique) signale que l’absence d’eau potable, comme le manque de logements décent équipés de sanitaires, pose un risque réel de développement du Covid-19.La Cour Africaine des droits de l’Homme et des Peuples (CADHP) souligne aussi le fait que les mesures étatiques ont un impact disproportionné sur les vies autochtones: la fermeture des marchés entraîne une perte des revenus et la restriction de mobilité cloisonne davantage les populations autochtones difficiles d’accès du Gabon.

During COVID-19, Chinese civil society established a wildlife-free e-commerce initiative to fight against illegal online wildlife trade and have achieved fruitful results. More efforts from e-commerce and long-term national mechanisms are needed to end wildlife cybercrime.

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and to ensure the safety of participants and visitors, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the French government have decided to postpone the IUCN World Conservation Congress 2020. Previously scheduled for 11 to 19 June 2020, it will now take place from 7 to 15 January 2021 in Marseille.
