Dear IUCN Members,
From 9-15 October this year, IUCN Members, Commissions and partners will come together in Abu Dhabi for the IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025 to address the planet’s most pressing environmental challenges. The Congress will serve as a platform to launch bold commitments for the global conservation community, and during the Assembly, Members will set new priorities and determine the action needed for the next four years and beyond.
We are pleased to share with you, for comment, the Provisional Congress Agenda. The detailed schedule is currently under development in cooperation with the IUCN Council and Members are kindly requested to make suggestions, in particular for the Members’ Assembly agenda, including about appeals against any Council decisions, to allow for adequate timing to be scheduled.
The Council will consider a more detailed Draft Agenda at its 113th meeting in May 2025, taking into account input received. The updated draft will be shared with Members, together with other official documents by 9 July 2025.
A consultation page is available on IUCN Engage and Members may submit their comments in the space provided before 31 March 2025.
Registration for Congress will open in the coming months (check the IUCN Congress website for updates) and we would like to take this opportunity to remind you of a number of important deadlines coming up soon.
15 January 2025 is the deadline for the submission of motions.
7 February 2025 is the deadline for the submission of nominations for President, Treasurer, Commission Chairs to the Election Officer, and nominations for Councillors elected from the Regions, and the Indigenous Councillor, which must be made via the online platform. We encourage you to discuss the nomination of possible candidates with your fellow Members and submit your nominations well ahead of the deadline. 7 February 2025 is also the deadline for submission of proposals for the Forum Sessions and Art Exhibits. For more information, please consult the IUCN Congress Website.
