Mapping equitable, effective paths to achieving 30x30

The total area of Jirisan National Park is 483.02 km2, which makes it the largest mountainous national park in Korea. The name of Jirisan means “the mountain of the old and wise people.” Jirisan National Park was added to the IUCN Green List during the Pilot Phase in 2014.

IUCN at CMS COP14

We are committed to supporting nations around the world to achieve Target 3 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, and with it, to conserve 30% of the world's ecosystems by 2030.

IUCN and Korea works towards effective protected and conserved areas

The K-OECM toolkit (ver 2.0) will be elaborated in the first half of 2024 with lessons learned from pilot study sites and some components of the IUCN Green List standard.
