Dear IUCN Members, Commission members and the Secretariat, The IUCN Climate Crisis Commission (CCC) is delighted to announce the launch of the membership recruitment process to the new Commission. The Climate Crisis Commission's vision is a world in which global warming is limited to 1.5 degrees above pre-industrial levels and society is adapting to manage climate risks in ways that enhance socio-ecological resilience, are nature Positive, and promote just outcomes for all. To realize this vision, the Climate Crisis Commission will help consolidate IUCN’s extensive climate-related policy as articulated through Congress resolutions, connect with existing efforts and synergies, and build new ones, promote productive and constructive partnerships and leverage IUCN’s convening power. CCC’s priorities and expected results: The Climate Crisis Commission, through its plans and activities will contribute to the IUCN Programme 2021–2024 and will help position IUCN as an influential and effective agent of change, giving new impetus to meeting the challenges of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees. We invite you to join us and continue advancing IUCN’s vision, a just world that values and conserves nature and mission, to influence, encourage and assist societies to conserve the integrity and diversity of nature and ensure that any use of natural resources is equitable and ecologically sustainable.
